Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Standard Software Inc. (“Standard Software,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Camera Overlay mobile application, website, and optional cloud-storage features.
1. Overview
Camera Overlay’s core camera, alignment, overlay, and comparison features operate locally on your device. You may use these local features without signing in.
Camera Overlay also offers optional cloud storage. When you choose to use cloud storage, the photographs you select and limited account information are transmitted to and stored on servers located in the United States.
We do not:
- Sell personal information;
- Display advertising;
- Track users for behavioural advertising;
- Use photographs for artificial-intelligence training;
- Use facial-recognition technology; or
- Access or view cloud photographs as part of our ordinary business operations.
2. Information Stored on Your Device
Photos taken or selected through Camera Overlay may be stored locally on your device.
We do not receive locally stored photos unless you choose to upload them to cloud storage or voluntarily send them to us in connection with a support request.
Local photos remain on your device until you delete them through the app or your device. Deleting your Camera Overlay cloud account does not delete photos stored locally on your device.
3. Optional Cloud Storage
Camera Overlay provides optional storage for up to 50 cloud images per user.
When you upload an image, we and our service providers may process:
- The uploaded photograph;
- Its filename or storage reference;
- File type and size;
- Upload, modification, and deletion dates;
- The account identifier associated with the image; and
- Other limited records needed to organize, retrieve, and delete the image.
Standard Software has the technical ability to access information stored within its cloud systems. However, we do not routinely access or view user photographs.
Authorized access may occur only when reasonably necessary to:
- Respond to a request from the user;
- Investigate a technical or security issue;
- Prevent misuse of the service;
- Maintain or repair the service; or
- Comply with a legal obligation.
4. Account and Authentication Information
Cloud storage requires authentication through an Apple or Google account. We do not receive or store your Apple or Google password.
Depending on the information provided by your chosen authentication method, we and our service providers may process:
- Your email address, including an Apple private-relay address where applicable;
- A unique account or user identifier;
- Your authentication provider;
- Account-creation and last-sign-in dates;
- Authentication and security tokens;
- IP addresses;
- Device, browser, or user-agent information used for security; and
- Technical logs associated with authentication and account protection.
No cloud account is required to use Camera Overlay’s local features.
5. Website and Support Information
When you visit our website, limited technical information may be processed automatically by our hosting service providers to deliver and protect the website. This may include your IP address, browser information, request date and time, and requested page.
We do not use website analytics or advertising trackers.
When you contact us, we receive the information you voluntarily provide, such as your email address, message, screenshots, and attachments. We use this information to respond to your request and provide support.

7. Disclosure to Others
We do not sell or rent personal information.
We disclose information only:
- To service providers that process information on our behalf and assist us in operating, hosting, authenticating, maintaining, or securing Camera Overlay;

8. International Processing
Camera Overlay’s cloud data is stored and processed on servers located in the United States.
Information processed outside Canada may be subject to the laws of the country where it is stored or processed. It may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement agencies, or government authorities where permitted by applicable law.
9. Retention and Account Deletion
Local photographs remain on your device until you delete them.
Cloud images and account information remain in active systems until you delete individual images or delete your cloud account.
When you delete an individual cloud image:
- It is removed from normal access immediately; and
- It may remain in protected recovery storage for up to seven days before being permanently deleted.
When you delete your cloud account:
- Your cloud images, account records, and associated information are removed from active systems;
- Your authentication account is deleted;
- Cloud images may remain in protected recovery storage for up to seven days; and
- Limited authentication records, security logs, and residual backup copies may take up to 180 days to be fully removed.
Certain information may be retained longer where reasonably necessary to comply with the law, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, or protect the security of the service.
Customer-support communications are generally retained for up to two years after the matter is resolved. They may be retained longer where reasonably necessary for legal, security, or record-keeping purposes.
Deleting your cloud account does not affect photographs stored locally on your device.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. These measures include authentication controls, access restrictions, encrypted transmission, and cloud-storage access rules.
No electronic system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your device and authentication account and for maintaining independent copies of important photographs.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the legal right and any required permission or consent to photograph another person and to store, use, or disclose that photograph.
You are also responsible for complying with any privacy, employment, professional, healthcare, or record-keeping requirements that apply to your use of Camera Overlay.
13. Medical Disclaimer
Camera Overlay is a photography and visual-alignment tool. It is not a medical device, diagnostic tool, medical-monitoring service, or patient-record system.
Camera Overlay must not be relied upon to diagnose, treat, or monitor a medical condition or as the sole basis for any clinical or healthcare decision.
